Sasha Keable - "That's The Shit"

August 09, 2018 by N3 On The Track in Music, R&B/Soul

At just 24 years old, South-London native Sasha Keable is a breath of fresh air. Returning today after a four-year hiatus, the songstress has unveiled her outstanding new offering ‘That’s The Shit’.

Sasha’s remarkable song-writing has certainly gained perspective in the last four years – her lyrics always seem to be either asking or answering questions. This idea of pretending to be something you’re not is a topic she tackles on her release today. Packed with jazz inflections, fluttering melodies and pitch shifted guitars, the track is led by Sasha’s brassy vocals that unpack all the different types of fronts people put on for others.

"‘That’s The Shit’ was written over three years ago with a producer called Prgrshn. It’s a bit of a piss take to all the men who go to clubs to buy bottles with money they don’t really have and the women who hover around them just to get a few drinks or a shag....!" – Sasha says of the record.

Keable was raised on Soul and Hip Hop, with some of her main influences being Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Lauryn Hill and her eclectic tastes manifest themselves in her song writing and arrangements.

Although, she may seem a new face to some, she's no stranger to success and working hard. In the time since she first picked up a mic she’s dropped a scattering of releases – from 2013’s dream ‘Black Book’ to 2014’s gorgeously understated 4-track EP ‘Lemongrass & Limeleaves’ however, 2018 will see Sasha stand at the forefront of London’s young and fiendishly talented singer/songwriters with a collaborative ethic and Brit school pedigree.

Nakala - "Do It Right"

July 16, 2018 by N3 On The Track in Music, R&B/Soul

Nakala continues to build on the momentum gained from her 2018 debut EP ‘Owe It To You’, which racked up 4 million streams on Spotify, as well as receiving support from BBC 1Xtra and Soulection. Her new single ‘Do It Right’ has arrived just in time for summer and is a collaboration with long time creative partner Jonah.

Providing an upbeat and addictive vibe to get you off your feet, 'Do It Right' is a showcase of flawless production and Nakala’s masterful flow, melding RnB and soulful hip hop in a way that shows she is one to watch. Nakala looks to keep pushing forward this year, with more new music on the way, and an expected 2 more EP’s in 2018.

"The song is just me, doing me. It’s for the summer, I was fucking around with other girls at the time but I still thought about my ex and imagined her with me and what what it would be like now. I loved the beat as soon as I heard it and I just wanted it to be a good vibe despite the reminiscent lyrics." - Nakala

'Do It Right' will be released on June 22nd via Majestic Casual Records.

Marlenà Taylor - "Whats Luv"

June 29, 2018 by N3 On The Track in Music, Hip-Hop, R&B/Soul

Hailing from Birmingham, 23 year-old poet/rapper/humanitarian Marlenà Taylor draws on the power of story-telling and poetry through hip hop, and channels these forces to create a refreshing and personal take on the genre. Earlier this year Marlená took a leap of faith by stepping into a recording studio for the first time, and acting upon her burning passion for music she recorded her debut single ‘Wats Luv’.

Featuring a vocal hook reminiscent of 90s RnB era from vocalist Dee’John, Wats Luv showcases her honest approach to music making and depicts the ups and downs of the relationship in question. She explains:

“Wats Luv is a very personal song after I decided to call it quits. I feel as women, we tolerate a lot but at the end of it all every women have their breaking points and Wats Luv was my breaking point”

Bridging the gap between poetry and Hip Hop, Marlenà priorities artistic integrity over anything else and looks to use her voice to fearlessly inspire and motivate the next generation, explaining:

“Having the freedom of self expression and being able to connect with people through stories is powerful - I don’t want to make music for the moment - I feel it’s my responsibility to not conform to the demands of the world, but to the demands of the people. I feel like my mission on earth is to create music with a message”

KRANE & Max Styler - "Changes" feat. GØLDN

June 21, 2018 by N3 On The Track in Music, Electronic

Following his critically acclaimed album "Fallout" earlier this year, prolific bass artist KRANE returns with his latest masterpiece "Changes." Produced in collaboration with Max Styler, "Changes" finds KRANEreinventing himself yet again to create a sophisticated and dreamy soundscape; the track delivers a slowly unwinding bassline and mesmerizing synths, all complemented by GOLDN's soulful vocals to tell the story of the sacrifices we make for love. KRANE's penchant for emotive bass fused with Styler's organic grooves is undeniably a winning combination. "Changes" is out on KRANE's SESSIONS, where KRANE has released much of his recent music.

Over the last several years, KRANE has been a metaphorical butterfly - his production style is constantly evolving, always inventive, and undeniably captivating. With over 26 million streams on his Spotifychannel, numerous praises from industry tastemakers - such as being named Billboard's "Artist to Watch in 2018" - and his "Fallout" album rising to #6 on the iTunes Dance charts, KRANE has certainly earned his reputation. From the emotional future bass of "Chemical" to the hard-hitting trap of "Fall Apart," KRANEhas never confined himself to a genre, but created a style and a space where such labels no longer matter. Through his project SESSIONS, he collaborates with unknown producers of all genres as a way to both give back to aspiring artists and continue experimenting with his own sound. KRANE is one of electronic music's most exciting artists right now, so stay tuned to see what he comes up with next.

Starley - "Love is Love"

June 21, 2018 by N3 On The Track in Music, Indie Pop

Australian pop/dance artist, Starley, has released her new beautiful, and deeply personal single ‘Love is Love’.

After the international success of her debut single, ‘Call on Me’, Starley spent the last year in the studio working on her forthcoming untitled album slated for a summer 2018 release. ‘Love is Love’ is the follow up to her global smash hit ‘Call on Me’ which went 4 x Platinum in Australia, 1xPlatinum in the US (and so on) with more than 1 billion streams globally. There are few artists in the world who can claim to have accomplished as much, in such a short period of time, as Sydney phenomenon Starley.

Starley: “‘Love is Love’ is a very personal song for me. I had written a first draft for it that had a lot less detail. After sharing it with a few friends, it seemed it wasn’t hitting home all the way, and I realized it was because I was leaving out the parts of the story I felt uncomfortable sharing. I decided to re-write it and dig deeper. That felt scary and liberating at the same time. From that process ‘Love is Love’ was born. I’m nervous and excited to share it with the world!”

Starley’s captivating music is written with a combination of integrity and deeply personal lyrics that clearly resonates with her fans, adding to her chart success so far. “The cover for ‘Love is Love’ is not to be about me. Although, this song is my personal story, it’s a song for everyone, so I felt like a heart was the perfect way to go. The plot twist is that the colors I chose are the very colors of the bisexual flag. I feel like there should be a flag that represents love in all forms - interracial, interfaith, gay, straight, bisexual, trans, and so on. Until that exists, I’ve chosen to use the colors of the bisexual flag because they relate to my personal journey.” comments Starley on the inspiration behind her single artwork.
